McManus Lake Canoe Trip
(August 3 - 6, 2012)
The lower sections of the Petawawa River, working your way from McManus Lake, are some of the few places in Algonquin Provincial Park where you can find Walleye present. It also holds resident Muskie, not that I really expected to catch any (although I was hoping). However, Peter has been wanting to catch a Muskie for several years now so off we headed. (more ...) |

Bell Lake Canoe Trip
(September 22 - 25, 2011)
Killarney Provincial Park is famous for the rugged white rocks of the ancient La Cloche mountains, for the crystal clear lakes that were so seriously affected by acid rain and for it's association with the Group of Seven and in particular A.Y. Jackson who fought for the protection of the area starting with O.S.A. ("Ontario Society of Artists") Lake around which Killarney Provincial Park has grown and been preserved. (more ...) |

Joe Lake Canoe Trip
(August 9 - 12, 2011)
Our canoe trip to Joe Lake in Algonquin Provincial Park started out from the Canoe Lake access point. What could possibly have convinced us to start a trip from Canoe Lake - probably the busiest access point anywhere in Algonquin - in the middle of August? The peak of tourist and canoeing season?? (more ...) |

Shirley Lake Canoe Trip
(July 1 - 4, 2011)
Peter and I headed out to Shirley Lake in Algonquin Provincial Park for our father -son canoe trip this year. I'll get a written trip report put together later, but for now here's a video version of the trip report. (more ...) |

Ragged Lake Canoe Trip
(September 3 - 6, 2010)
Our trip to Ragged Lake in Algonquin Provincial Park was another 4 day trip that I made with my daughter Madeline over the Labour Day weekend. Madeline had patiently waited her turn to come along and we were excited to be headed out for some father-daughter bonding. This would be the first trip to Smoke Lake and Ragged Lake for both of us which made it a new adventure. Of course, if we happened to catch a few fish along the way, well then that would be a fine way to finish up our summer. (more ...) |

Booth Lake Canoe Trip
(July 1 - 4, 2010)
This was a 4 day trip that I took with my younger son, Peter, over the July long weekend in 2010. We were looking for a few things on this trip, with the first and most important being to just have a good time while we explored a new area that neither of us had been to before. While we were at it, we were also looking to catch a few fish, in particular we wanted to find some Northern Pike since we don't have any Pike in our lake back at the cottage. (more ...) |

French River Canoe Trip
(June 13 - 16, 2009)
"There's something about this country, it's a part of me and you" - from "Woodsmoke and Oranges" by Ian Tamblyn
While Ian Tamblyn was singing about Lake Superior, there is something about this part of the French River that always seems to strike a cord in me. It might just be that the 2 times I've been in the French River delta area the trips have been so lazy and relaxed that I come home feeling I haven't actually finished the trip. (more ...) |

Algonquin Canoe Trip
(May 2 - 5, 2009)
Well, usually I'm the one who writes up these trip reports, but this year my daughter decided that it was her turn to write one. For the last 4 years now we've been doing a 'parent-kid' fishing trip to Pen Lake either the first or second week of trout season. This was Madeline's second year on the trip with me. (more ...) |

Petawawa River - Lake Travers to Lake McManus
(June 17 - 20, 2005)
The Petawawa River was a new adventure for us. This interior canoe trip was planned as a 4 day excursion on the lower portion of the Petawawa River through Algonquin Provincial Park from Lake Travers down to Lake McManus. Since it was a one-way river trip the logistics were more complicated than a loop would have been. However, the bigger challenge for this trip is that the Petawawa is a classic Ontario whitewater river. (more ...) |

This was the annual spring fishing trip. As usual we went in at Rock Lake and set up a base camp on Pen Lake. This year we fished Pen, Clydegale, Welcome, and Harry (more ...) |
