Day 1
We got to the park around noon, stopped at the park office to get our permit and then headed to the put in. We saw our We stopped for lunch before loading up the canoe, and probably didn't get on the water until about 1:30pm. From the dock at the put in on Big Salmon Lake you can see across to the first portage to Little Salmon Lake. That portage is only 974 meters, but by the time you get to the end you've walked at least twice as far as you got to paddle so far. We made it in 2 trips, our older son carried his pack including his clothes, sleeping bag and tent.
